My First Skirt

Notice anything fun about this picture? That's right...the skirt! I found the idea on one of my favorite blogs, Say Yes! to Hoboken. The tutorial can be found here. It is actually for a little girl's skirt. But big girls like cute skirts too, so I don't see any issue.

Now, I am NOT a seamstress but with a little help from my mother I put this together in no more than 2 hours. It was a blast and I get tons of compliments on it. Need something fun to do this weekend? Grab some fabric and get sewing!

Here's one more just for showing off. Hey! It's the first piece of clothing I've ever made that I can actually wear outside the house without weird looks. :-)

  1. Well done! I remember the first time I sewed something that was actually wearable (with the loving guidance of my mother, too!) - I was so thrilled. Great blog, btw... and thanks for stopping by mine!

  2. Thanks! I want to make a few more just to get comfortable with the machine then try my hand at something more complicated. Seriously, where would we be without moms. I would have no skills to offer the world.

    Thanks for dropping by!

  3. I wish I could sew anything at all. It seems like so much fun to be able to just whip yourself up a skirt!
