So, I know it's a bit unusual, but today I need to do a pre-weekend update because there is something I'm so excited to tell you that I just can't wait until Monday!
Tomorrow is the big day...our first ever 5k race! I. AM. SO. EXCITED. We have been preparing for this race since the beginning of summer and I can't believe that tomorrow morning, 7 a.m., I'll be kicking off from the starting line. I'm prepared to fall head over heels in love with the thrill of a race day tomorrow, and am already pumped to sign up for an 8k this February. Running has finally gotten fun, and though my endurance still needs a little work the fact that I can run 1.5 miles without stopping gives me the motivation I need to keep pushing toward new goals. It really is the possibilities that keep me going!
Here's the shirt I bought, on sale, at Sports Authority for my run (only $14!). It's a Nike Pro Fitted V-Neck tee and I love it. If I had a million dollars I would buy this shirt in ever color it comes in. I chose pink because, even though I hate wearing pink in real life, I love wearing it when I work out because it makes me feel like a lady even though I'm sweating like a pig and grunting through my workout like a man.
I can't wait to report back to you on Monday with pictures from race day and some other fun things on the agenda this weekend. I just know that this weekend is going to fly by, but I'm going to try and savor every last minute of it.
I'll leave one final question for you runners out there:
Question of the Day:
I've never gone running so early in the morning, and don't typically eat breakfast until 9:00. What is a good breakfast to eat early in the morning before we get there at 6am that would be good fuel and not make my stomach real sick?
English muffin with peanut butter! Except my stomach always feels sick no matter what because of the nerves! I'm so so so excited for you and can't wait to hear how it goes!ReplyDelete
Whole wheat toast with peanut butter! Love the shirt you bought for the race! Good Luck tomorrow, you guys will do great!!!ReplyDelete
good luck tomorrow! I've got no advice for you, because I've never done such a thing. :)ReplyDelete
How great! Lovely T-shirt, love Nike ones because they are comfy and that is true you still look like a lady even when you are nearly ready to fall on the flour exhausted. It boost your confidence.ReplyDelete
As for breakfast I would eat some granola with fruits and drink a good orange juice.
All the best! And looking forward reading more about it next week.
SO excited for you! Once you finish you'll have the best natural high and immediately want to sign up for the next race! I usually have a piece of toast, almond butter and banana on top to fuel me post-race.ReplyDelete
I wanted to give you a link to a friend and former co-worker of mine who runs marathons, does triathalons all year long. lol She's amazing and thought maybe there are some tips on her blog you could use.ReplyDelete
Good luck on your run hun!!! I'm sure you will do great. I suggest some toast or a bagel thin with peanut butter and a banana. xoxoReplyDelete
Congrats and GOOD LUCK! What a fun/hard accomplishment it will be!ReplyDelete
i have no idea about the breakfast, i vey rarerly run... but i wish you good luck and i think you are doning something really good for you : )ReplyDelete
I say a whole lotta pasta tonight and I agree with whole wheat toast/granola, peanut butter, and fruit for breakfast, and maybe a Luna Bar for a snack in the later morning. Good luck and have fun!ReplyDelete
Bananas!! Lots of :) I usually eat porridge :) Good luck - you are going to love it! Love the top, I have a pink one too :PReplyDelete

You. Are. Amazing.ReplyDelete
So excited for you :) I know it will be wonderful & I can't wait to hear your stories on Monday! ...As far as pre-race fuel goes, if your stomach likes peanut butter, I'll echo the ladies above: pb +toast/english muffin/bagel is good :) ...Also, I've had luck with granola bars before 5k's.
What you're doing is so great. Waking up early is a chore for me, let alone doing anything, especially running. I don't have much advice for you but I think what you're doing is truly amazing.ReplyDelete
There's pretty much no ceiling on endurance either. You can keep on building and building it. Have fun tomorrow.ReplyDelete
Half a Grapefruit, or Beetroot carrot and apple juice.ReplyDelete
As of now you are probably all done, but I hope you had a great time and a great breakfast. Can't wait to hear about it! I must have known you posted this (without actually knowing) because I took my first "run" in several months yesterday! Was a 20 min run-walk-walk-run-walk-walk-jog-wheeze-etc. but it felt good to do something!ReplyDelete
You go girl! You will rock that race. I'm not an expert on running, but I do really well with a banana and toast before a run.ReplyDelete
woohoo, go you! I can't run from here to there (bad knee) and my sister keeps wanting me to do marathons with her! Good luck!ReplyDelete
I hope your 5k went well! I wanted to let you know that I left you an award on my blog! Hope you have a fabulous rest of your weekend!ReplyDelete

Hope the 5k went well! Sadly I am not a runner so I dont have any advice but I am sure you will do great cant wait to hear about it on your next blog!ReplyDelete
I can't wait to hear how it went! I can't eat much of anything before running or working out, so I stick with half a protein bar or even just a spoonful of peanut butter... will be interested to hear what you tried!ReplyDelete
